Each year, Sjöö Sandström creates an Annual Edition - a limited series of 86 pieces, paying tribute to the year the brand was founded, 1986. Every edition takes inspiration from something deeply rooted in Sweden: our nature, our culture, or our craftsmanship. For 2025, the story turns to Swedish design, simple, precise, and globally recognized.
To bring this idea to life, we turned to Claesson Koivisto Rune, a studio whose influence stretches far beyond Sweden’s borders. For nearly three decades, Mårten Claesson, Eero Koivisto, and Ola Rune have defined what modern Scandinavian design can be: refined yet human, minimalist yet warm. Their work appears in museums, galleries, and landmark buildings around the world, but always carries the same unmistakable calm and precision. Their work has played a key role in shaping the global understanding of Scandinavian design.
Based on our Royal Steel Chronograph 42mm, Claesson Koivisto Rune has given the watch a new form through their own design language. The result is a clean and balanced interpretation that plays with light, shadow, and proportion. Every detail, from the redefined hands to the reimagined subdials, has been carefully adjusted to create a sense of rhythm and depth. The matte black dial and its carefully placed markers create a calm sense of depth, while the small highlight of 86 is a subtle nod to our founding year and the limited number of watches made each year.
Annual Edition 2025 represents a meeting of two worlds - design and watchmaking - both built on patience, precision, and craftsmanship. The result is something distinctly Swedish: clear in form, thoughtful in detail, and created to last.
